Uso de "stop"
La construcción verbal con "stop" + "gerund" implica que una acción en progreso se termina. No existe una relación causal entre los dos verbos empleados.

- He stopped eating meat in January.
La construcción verbal "stop" + infinitivo significa que se interrumpe una actividad para hacer otra cosa, es decir, el infinitivo se emplea para expresar el propósito de dicha interrupción.

- It's difficult to concentrate on what you are doing if you have to stop to answer the phone every five minutes.
- We stopped to look at the wildflowers.
